“Brilliant color is easy to live with when it is handled with assurance. Here, orange—full strength for curtains, love seat, and chair—is broken up with white into a flame-stitch-patterned wallpaper. For calmness, interior designer Barbara D’Arcy uses an all-white bedspread and canopy, cube table, textured rug; for depth, rich tones of rosewood and a dark floor; for glitter, glass and steel. The old and new are coupled in this bedroom for provocation.”
